TOKYO, JAPAN – While the world prepares itself for the new media standard
war
between HD-DVD (Toshiba) and Blu-Ray (Sony), a new standard was
announced by the Glico Food Corporation called
Super-Duper-Pocky-Display-DVD (SDPD-DVD). The new standard relies upon
a DVD style media that is made from a crunchy wafer dipped in chocolate.
It is unknown exactly how this third standard will effect the already
bitter presale war between Toshiba's HD-DVD players and the Sony PS3,
however Glico announced that they have their own player which should
cost about $150US, far undercutting the other two standards. Hajime
Misosori, spokesman for Glico said, “Our standard
not only
offers the best video quality yet, but is delicious as an afternoon
snack for the busy movie-lover on the go”.
No studios have yet been attached to the new format, however Mr.
Misosori stated that several studios have “shown an
interest”. While no base price per disk has been mentioned
yet,
it is believed that the delicious video media will probably be priced
low since people will have to replace every disk they consume.
